Quercertin, a natural anti-histamine

Roughly 20% of the Australian population suffers from allergies, these can be caused by grasses, pollens, pollutants, molds and foods, to name a few. These allergens trigger an immune response within the body that causes IgE antibodies to attach to cells known as mast cells and basophils; they then release large amounts histamine, pro-inflammatory prostaglandins & cytokines: causing the cluster of symptoms we associate with allergies; runny nose, itchy & watery eyes, irritated throat, skin rash and asthma.

Quercertin is a bioflavonoid; a powerful antioxidant that also acts as an anti-inflammatory and anti-allergen. Quercertin acts by attaching itself to the mast and basophils, reducing their ability to over-react to allergens, reducing their ability to release histamine, pro-inflammatory prostaglandins & cytokines. Quercertin also reduces inflammation by inhibiting immune inflammation pathways in the body.
