Women’s health is a massive topic and as a woman myself, I have learnt so much through my own health journey. Women have a different and very delicate balance of hormones that need to work in coordination in order to be optimally healthy. Unfortunately these hormones are out of balance long before many females have control over the choices for their own health. For example, it is common for young girls to start taking the contraceptive pill from an early age, for many reasons besides contraception, such as for acne and skin problems. This interferes with the body’s natural hormonal balance and often has catastrophic effects later down the track. Further, as a practitioner at Health Space, one of the biggest areas of health that I love to help with is preconception and pregnancy care. It’s one of my absolute favourite areas of treatment as a chiropractor and there are many women I have taken care of before, during and after their pregnancy. I loved it so much that I went and studied to become a doula, so I could be present at my clients’ births as well. Similarly, there are many practitioners at all Health Space locations who have a keen focus on helping you and other women navigate the hormonal and health pitfalls that each stage of our life brings us.
From puberty, to managing careers, to learning about fertility, preparing and experiencing pregnancy and labour, through to menopause, women have a long, varied and most importantly, privileged journey through various life stages.
