Hurt your lower back?
This is a common condition we see at Health Space clinics. Although this is a common condition, the diagnosis of what contributed to developing your lower back pain is unique and therefore the assessments and treatment methods will differ for everyone.
We know that most episodes of lower back pain will improve on their own within the first 4-6 weeks but do not resolve completely (Koes et al. 2010). However, this isn’t the case for everyone and flare ups are extremely common. To ensure the best possible long-term outcome, it’s in your best interest to seek treatment from a qualified physiotherapist.
Recent research has changed the recommendations for treatment of lower back pain. We now know that exercise and advice to remain active lead to better outcomes in pain and function than the once advised rest and pain medications Chou et al. (2007).
Physiotherapy will help you manage your lower back pain faster, restore the pain free movement you had previously, and get you back to doing the things you enjoy. Our experienced physiotherapists at Health Space clinics use a range of evidence-based treatment methods such as manual therapy to mobilise stiffened joints and release muscle tension, spinal manipulations, therapeutic exercise to improve motor control and strength, and will work with you to help you achieve your goals as well as educate you on how to prevent future flare ups.
