Beginners guide to green smoothies

I’m a big fan of smoothies, they can be a quick and nourishing breakfast on the go, an energy boosting mid morning snack or a great post workout snack.

Green smoothies can seem daunting for some of us. This basic recipe is a great introduction to green smoothies and below I have included some suggestion to take your smoothie to the next level.

Blend all bleow ingredients until smooth and enjoy.

  • ½ a ripe banana
  • ¼ a ripe avocado
  • 1 scoop of your favorite protein powder or a small handful of cashew nuts
  • 1 handful of baby spinach or ½ a teaspoon of greens powder
  • 2 table spoons of yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon of flax seeds
  • 300 ml of water

For an immune boost add ½ a teaspoon of powdered medicinal reishi mushrooms.

For hormonal balance add a 2 teaspoons of maca powder.

Add cinnamon to balance blood sugar and reduce sugar cravings.

For  kids add some organic berries or cacao powder to disguise the greens.
