Dr. Katie Halakas has been a dedicated chiropractor for 18 years, driven by a profound personal journey that began with extensive medical challenges. At age seven, Katie underwent reconstructive surgery on her feet, spending months in a wheelchair and walking plaster. Her severe spinal issues became apparent at fifteen when she was diagnosed with severe idiopathic scoliosis, requiring surgery that left her with metal screws and a rod in her spine. She has suffered numerous fractures, braces, splints, stitches, and a stress fracture in her hip, so has first hand experience in the pain, recovery and rehabilitation of many conditions. These experiences with significant physical adversity ignited her passion for spinal health and fitness.
Katie’s commitment to health care is reflected in her extensive postgraduate education, which includes sports courses, rehabilitation, dry needling, kinesiology, nutrition, pregnancy and paediatric seminars, sacro-occipital technique (SOT), total body modification, and psychology of nutrition. She is currently studying a sports medicine diploma with a focus on football through FIFA.
Passionate about family wellness, fitness, and nutrition, Katie particularly enjoys working with families and those enjoying, or wanting to start, an active lifestyle. Her active lifestyle, marked by running, cycling, and mountain biking around the Northern Beaches, underscores her belief in the importance of respecting and nurturing one’s body to achieve optimal health and a fulfilling life.
