Dr. Glenn Welsh has a wealth of knowledge and experience having graduated in 1984 with an undergraduate Science degree from UNSW and a postgraduate in Chiropractic & Osteopathy from Sydney College of Chiropractic & Osteopathy where he was awarded the coveted Student of the Year. He has also lectured at the International College of Chiropractic & Nature Care College of Naturopathy. He was extremely privileged to do observational rounds at RPA with world renowned Neurosurgeon Dr. Charlie Teo in 1985/86.
Glenn has been immersed in sport throughout his life, particularly rugby union, baseball and surfing. It was his love of sport and later his experience as a coach that led to his special interest in treating sports injuries, in which he takes an eclectic approach with each client.
Glenn finds the water his second home and can often be founding surfing in his spare time at all the local northern beaches surf spots, particularly at Mona Vale beach and North Narrabeen . Glenn is the initial founding member & Senior Sports Chiropractor for the World Surf League Medical Unit and has treated some of the most elite athletes and world champions in the professional surfing community, including the likes of Mick Fanning and Kelly Slater.
In 1993 he travelled he travelled to Sri Lanka and studied acupuncture under the tutelage of Rheumatologist Professor Anton Jayasuriya. He uses musculoskeletal acupuncture, where indicated, also known as dry needling, as part of his very thorough treatments.
Despite having over 30 years of experience, he has a strong belief that there is no one technique that has all the answers. For this reason he takes a holistic and individualised approach, using an array of different techniques to suit the patient and ensure the best outcomes. These techniques include joint manipulation and Cox Flexion Distraction, complemented by soft tissue massage, active release techniques, DNS, acupuncture, dry needling (for those who enjoy it) and varieties of sports taping.
Dr Welsh’s extensive sporting background and work with elite athletes has enabled him to design and implement his own specific rehabilitative, exercise and core stability programs. These functional programs are implemented one on one at the local Fitness First gym in Mona Vale. Clients don’t need to be members of the gym to be part of this amazing program where Glenn steps you personally through each exercise. Not only are these programs tailored especially for your needs and goals but you can be instructed how to continue these exercises at home or your local gym, knowing exactly what to do to ensure maximum results.
Dr. Welsh also has a keen interest in Office Ergonomics and Manual Handling within the Occupational Health and Safety arena, where he has actively been engaged in assessing workstations and managing workplace injuries. Additionally, he has been an invited speaker to several Federal & State Departments as well as many of the Top 100 companies in the private sector. Glenn looks forward to meeting you and your family.
