Lisa grew up in Oatley, where she spent a whole chunk of her childhood imagining that aliens had landed on earth and invaded all the bodies of all the humans she met, including her mum. These days, she is an award-winning writer of picture books and fiction for young people, and many of her seventeen books have been published internationally.
When she is not writing for young people, Lisa enjoys working at Health Space Oatley. She loves spending time with the patients of Health Space, hearing their stories and sharing a laugh, all the while soaking up the warm sunshine of the reception room. She is passionate about the power and the value of chiropractic, and is keen for everyone to have the opportunity to embrace healing from the inside out.
Lisa has been married to our co-director and chiropractor Keiran Shanahan for more than thirty years and she has been a chiropractic patient for close to thirty-five years! As a child, Lisa experienced frequent torticollis and recurrent tonsillitis, and when Keiran first viewed her x-rays in her early twenties, he was dismayed by the degeneration in her neck. In a grand romantic gesture, Keiran married Lisa regardless, and she has now lived torticollis and tonsillitis free, for more than three decades, thanks to regular chiropractic adjustments.
Lisa loves moon-gazing, making up words, black cockatoos, sticky chai tea, shouts of unexpected laughter, and her three wonderful sons. She continues to live close to the river of her childhood, with her brilliant husband, two of their three sons, one flouncy, bouncy spoodle and as far as she knows, no sneaky undercover aliens!
