Jason Gan - Health Space Clinics

Jason Gan completed the Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy program at RMIT University in 2017, while jointly participating in a voluntary Myotherapy Intensive program in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India, hosted by Jagran Jan Vikas Samiti. He completed a Diploma of Yoga in 2011, and practices hathayoga and vinyasa flow in the tradition of Krishnamacharya. His lifestyle is personally affected by chronic and persistent pain associated with myofascial dysfunction, which motivated him to study remedial massage in 2014.

He is an advanced member of Massage & Myotherapy Australia. Myotherapy is a form of physical therapy that involves the assessment and physical treatment of myofascial pain, injury and dysfunction affecting movement and mobility. It is applied in the preventative, corrective and rehabilitative phases of therapy and is intended to restore and maintain the normal integrity of the soft tissue structure.

Myofascial dry needling (also known as intramuscular manual therapy) is the core specialty of a myotherapy program. It is an invasive procedure using a solid filament needle to insert into a muscle spindle. Jason has over 2 years experience performing myofascial dry needling, and attended a masterclass by world renowned dry needling specialist Dr Jan Dommerholt in 2017.

Applicable treatment modalities include:
- Soft Tissue Manual Treatment, including Joint Mobilisation, Contract-Relax Stretching, Muscle Energy Technique (MET), Positional Release Therapy (PRT)
- Trigger Point Therapy, including Deep Tissue Massage (DTM)
- Kinesiology Taping (KT)
- Myofascial Decompression (MFD)
- Functional Release Cupping (FRC)
- Anatomy Trains Structural Integration (ATSI)
- Corrective Exercise
- Core Stability Exercise
- Postural Correction
- Thermal/Ice Therapy
- Myofascial Dry Needling (MDN)
- Electromechanical Stimulation
- Needle Electrical Intramuscular Stimulation (NEIS)
- Dermatome Needling
- Diet & Nutritional Advice

(Corrective exercise is the most important aspect of a rehabilitative strategy, because no amount of manual therapy will be able to affect neuroplastic changes.)
