Health Space is proud to sponsor yoga and Pilates classes at Mona Vale Surf Club. Health Space Mona Vale has a long standing relationship with the community and with the surf club specifically. We have a number of yoga traditions and class styles with teachers of many years experience.
A class for beginners or experienced yogi’s, Iyengar yoga concentrates on the alignment of the pose and holding it for an extended period of time, allowing the body to become familiar with the poses and movements. Iyengar yoga focuses on building strength and structure to the body, allowing us to stand upright. It also assists with increasing flexibility, enabling us to move in a variety of positions and to enhance strength building. Students are invited to learn inversions when they feel “ready”, and are led into poses such as shoulder stands, headstands and handstands. The classes feature regular hands-on adjustments, facilitated by the instructor, to prevent injury and to teach the student correct alignment.
A class where real yoga is taught to the future generation of yogis. Children are never too young to start yoga, with classes focused on increasing flexibility, focus, strength, and learning to relax. Children are encouraged to learn about themselves and how yoga can assist them in everyday life, in a fun, relaxed environment. Each class finishes with 10 minutes of savasana (relaxation), so students are able to return home refreshed and calmer.
Yoga Therapy (Beginner to Intermediate)
Each class is a tailored, remedial stretch and strengthening class, designed to suit individual goals and needs. The class focuses on caring for lower back and joint health and healing. The classes complement strenuous sporting activities and focus on mobility to relieve muscle stiffness and pain. The classes are taught by an instructor with many years of experience and with a sound background in anatomy and physiology.
Virtual Yoga & Fitness Classes
We all know how important it is to keep up a regular exercise and wellness routine, but not everyone has the time or ability to go to the gym or studio for a class, yet they know the value in having a set time and routine for exercise, and they also like having the motivation of an instructor and group of people to exercise with. It’s good for your physical fitness and it’s also extremely important for your mental health too.
Virtual Yoga and Fitness classes are for those who like something that is interactive where you can receive in-the-moment and real time feedback from the instructor. They are not pre-recorded or live streamed where you simply follow along as best you can. Joining a class takes the stress and guesswork out of having to come up with your own Yoga flows or workout programs, so you know each session will be balanced, effective and safe.
All virtual online classes are run through zoom, so all you need is an internet connection, your device, and a small space to place your mat or workout gear. When you register for your class online, you will receive a link to the zoom session, and you will also receive a reminder 15 before class is about to begin. If you prefer not to be seen by the instructor or other participants, then you can simply turn your camera off.
